2019 Mid-Year Update

The Alabama Center for Architecture hosted the Fourth Annual Posters, Pints & Pies Exhibit opening reception on Thursday, January 31st. This years exhibit included more than 50 music posters from private collections.

This year we added live music with the YOUNG and very talented AndBlack. These kids are 15 and 16 years old playing old school music. We will all be paying big money to see these kids play one day. We can say we knew them when…..

As part of every exhibit, we promote architecture.  The design wall is always a part of the annual poster show.
Hope to see you in 2020 for our Five Year Anniversary! Yes, five years, time flies when you are having a “Good Time.”

Sponsors: Beveled Edge – Title Sponsor, Cahaba Brewing, Dave’s Pizza, & Diplomat Deli

In addition to the dreamARCHITECTURE Awards Ceremony, we host a free teacher workshop in Birmingham and Huntsville!
The workshop includes a presentation from an architect on the theme for the year, as well as an artist-led project for the teachers!

WOW – what an incredible turnout we had for the 2019 Building with Bricks Exhibit! Our exhibit featured state-wide projects from our amazing firm members, a private collection of incredible architectural wonders made of LEGO®, architectural models, and a design & build room for kids! This year, we added a scavenger hunt for all the project boards. View the photos here!

We had such a wonderful time at the AIA Alabama Conference on Architecture! Hosted at The Lodge at Gulf State Park, our 3 days consisted of interesting and engaging professional development presentations. Friday started with a hands-on session with the planners and designers of the new Lodge at Gulf State Park & the interpretive center. Saturday began with a Innovation, Regulation and Practice Management Panel, moderated by Katie Wood with Lathan Associates. We concluded the weekend with our Sunday brunch and the annual membership meeting! Thanks to AIA Alabama for another great conference. We hope to see everyone next year!
